2013 - What An Amazing Year! Kutoa Org

2013 - What An Amazing Year!

Look at all the things we've accomplished together

Today is your LAST CHANCE to vote on 1 of 3 great projects we're promoting through Free The Children.

Here's What You've Given To In 2013:

January - Integral Family Literacy in Guatemala (UNESCO)
February - Fleece Blankets for Syrian Refugees (UNHCR)
March - Housing the Vulnerable in Lesotho (Habitat For Humanity)
April - Keeping Girls From the Front Lines in Africa (Child Soldier Initiative)
May - Training Midwives in Gambia (UNFPA)
June - HIV & TB Care in Swaziland (Doctors Without Borders)
July - Fish Farms for Families in Armenia (World Vision)
August - Anti-Malaria Tablets in Mozambique (UNICEF)
September - Care for Freed Slave Girls In India (International Justice Mission)
October - Survival Kits for Syrian Refugees (UNHCR)
November - Food Security Programs in Mauritania (World Food Programme)
December - Furniture & Textbooks for a school in Kenya* (Free The Children)
*Presently leading this months voting

It's pretty amazing to think you've given to all of these things!

And while 2013 has been great - the outlook for Kutoa in 2014 is even greater.

As of the writing of this, Kutoa has been operational for 473-days and have seen 1440 accounts created from people in 105 countries, with 429 of those currently giving their $1/month. We're now trying to figure out the best way to manage this growth and set a course for Kutoa to ensure that it helps lots of people all around the world for a longtime to come.

Offline we have some great people working on some snazzy communication tools that we hope will make a splash online. These will be things that you'll want to share on Facebook and will help you easily explain to others what a great thing you're a part of.

On top of this, now that we have some history behind us (thanks to you!), others are taking us more seriously and this micro-philanthropic movement is picking up pace. Kutoa works when we all give a little, so getting lots of people on board is key to our collective success.

With that being said, why not make it a personal goal to recruit 5-people to join Kutoawith you this year? You can track your progress by viewing YOUR IMPACT and as people join you in the cause you'll feel the excitement of knowing that you're making a difference in the lives of those in need.

2014 is going to be exciting!

Keep spreading the word by sharing on Facebook, Tweeting, buying gift subscriptions and emailing those you know.

Happy New Year!

FIREFOX & YOU

Mozilla
FIREFOX YOU

Dear Firefox & You subscriber,

From the very beginning, Mozilla was built to be a movement, not a company.

We've always felt people should be in control of their online lives, not kept in the dark. We want the tools we build — like Firefox — to respect people, to care about their security and to protect their privacy.

That's why I chose to make Mozilla a non-profit. An open, accessible Web matters more than maximizing shareholder value.

The idea of putting people before profit is a powerful one. There are thousands of Mozilla volunteers and staff around the world who believe deeply in our mission and values. We are all building an Internet that puts the public good over profit.

But we can't do this important work without the support of people like you. This is the only email we will send to you this year asking for a donation to support our work. Make your online gift to Mozilla right now.

Parts of the Internet will always be built by large companies. And that's good. That economic engine brings a lot of skill, energy and resources to bear, but it's not enough.

We must also build the Web the world needs — an Internet where people come first. Whether it's profitable or not, it's the right thing to do.

What we've accomplished so far has been possible because tens of thousands around the world have joined and supported Mozilla. Just knowing that so many people share our vision and our commitment to users is both humbling and empowering. We would like to count you in.

I'm only sending one single email about the Mozilla Year-End Fundraising Campaign. That means you have just one chance to make a donation to support our important work.

The heart of Mozilla is a global community with a shared mission. That's what gives us power. That's what gives us impact. That's what makes us different — people like you who help us build the Internet the world needs.

Sincerely,

Mitchell

HRW: URGENT: DOUBLE YOUR GIFT THROUGH DEC 31

Dear Friend,

Widespread killings are underway in the Central African Republic – a mother is forced to watch her children murdered; a grandfather stands by, helpless, as combatants kill his family – and the future remains dangerously uncertain.

Now, more than ever, we need your gift to document these atrocities. Thanks to an anonymous donor, every dollar raised between now and midnight on December 31 will be matched up to $125,000!

We cannot predict every tragedy, but we must remain ready to respond and expose the facts on the ground.

Right now, our researchers in the Central African Republic are bringing the truth to light. This truth is vital in pressuring the rest of the world to take action and save lives, but we need your support to continue.

Help us keep our researchers working with your tax-deductible gift today, and know it will go twice as far: $15 = $30, $50 = $100, and $250 = $500.*

We will be ready with credible research and reporting. We will be ready with diligent advocacy. We will be ready to save lives and help victims get the justice they deserve.

But we need your help to do it. Gifts will only be doubled until December 31, so please give now.

Thank you,

Kenneth Roth

Center for American Progress

Center for American Progress
Dear Fellow Progressive,

CAP was founded 10 years ago on the idea that, when you fight on equal footing, progressive ideas come out on top.

That’s what we’re continuing to do today. From producing the blueprints to achieve more just access to health care to funding cutting-edge journalism and analysis that reaches 5 million readers a month, CAP has been fighting to make the country a better place for everyone to live.

Today I’m asking you to support CAP, so that we can continue to push the progressive movement even further
. Together, we can make the next 10 years just as game-changing.

Midnight on December 31 is our hard deadline to reach a critical $150,000 fundraising goal, and we can only get it done if grassroots donors like you do your part.

CAP’s continued success as a progressive powerhouse depends on individuals making an investment in our movement. Will you pitch in with a tax-deductible donation so CAP can bring about a more progressive, equitable future for all Americans?

Just 5 days left to help CAP meet its 2013 fundraising goal. Make a tax-deductible donation today and it will be matched.

When CAP was founded in 2003, it was dark days for progressives. George W. Bush was in the White House, and conservative lawmakers controlled the House and Senate.

10 years later, we’ve made such incredible strides that conservatives now look to CAP’s model to imitate. Thanks to CAP, progressives are no longer hustling to play catch up.

But we’re not resting on our laurels here – not when there are so many challenges ahead, like the continued attacks on women’s rights, efforts to suppress the vote, and grave inequality

Make your tax-deductible donation to CAP right now and a generous donor will match you gift dollar for dollar. We must reach our goal of $150,000 by midnight on December 31.

CAP’s continued success depends on our staying vigilant. But our budget is dwarfed by those of our counterparts on the right. That’s why we must make sure we reach our goal of raising $150,000 by midnight on December 31.

Donate immediately to CAP and a generous donor will make your gift go twice as far in furthering progressive public policy. It’s imperative that we reach $150,000 by midnight, December 31.

Thanks for being a part of the progressive movement.

Sincerely,

Neera Tanden

GiveDirectly

Fellow Donors,

Good news: collectively we've given over $1.7 million that will be matched dollar for dollar by Good Ventures. That’s 34% of the way toward our $5 million challenge goal, and translates into over $3 million that will be transferred directly to families living in extreme poverty. There's no way to put into words what that will mean for the recipients.

With just 9 days until the end of 2013 and 40 days until the end of the matching challenge, we still have a $3.3 million opportunity sitting waiting. If you're able to, I encourage you take advantage of this opportunity to double the value of your holiday charitable giving. Since we don’t spend our donors’ money on advertising, we also appreciate you spreading the word about direct giving, which GiveWell now calls "an outstanding opportunity to accomplish good."

Our team across Kenya, Uganda and the U.S. has been energized by this challenge, and we are ready to deliver life-changing amounts of cash to nearly 50,000 households living in extreme poverty.
Happy holidays,

Clinton Foundation

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Make a tax-deductible donation today, and your gift will be matched.

Mumtaz,

Every child deserves the best possible chance at success – and they can't do it alone. They need a lot of helping hands along the way. Ever since my days as a young law student at the Children's Defense Fund and the Yale Child Study Center, I've believed that when it comes to our kids, we're all in this together. That's why I'm delighted that the Clinton Foundation has made it a priority to help children all over the world pursue their God-given potential.

With your support, we're working to prevent babies from contracting HIV; reduce childhood obesity; and promote new research on the science of children's brain development, early learning, and early health.

With so much work to be done across all of our projects, Bill has decided to personally match every tax-deductible donation to the Clinton Foundation until the end of 2013. Can you help us kick off 2014 stronger than ever? Every donation made, until December 31st, will be matched.

Over the past decade, I have marveled at how quickly the Foundation has grown, and how much good it has done. And I know the best is yet to come.

We have big plans for 2014. Our new Too Small to Fail initiative will help parents give our youngest children a good start in school and in life. No Ceilings will take on what I believe is the great unfinished business of the 21st century — helping women and girls achieve full participation in every aspect of our society. And we're going to take a look at economic development issues as well, particularly how to help young people get the skills and support they need to find good and fulfilling jobs. Across all our initiatives, we'll be helping more people in more places solve problems and seize opportunities faster, leaner, and better.

These aren't small goals, but we've never shied away from tough problems. The lesson of the last decade at the Clinton Foundation is that, with your support, there are no limits to what we can achieve together. And in 2014, as we expand our work into new areas, we will need your help more than ever.

There's no better time to lend your support for the work ahead. Remember, from now until the end of the year your donation will be matched, dollar-for-dollar.

Please join us as we continue to build a better world and a brighter future for all our children. We can't do this important work without you.

Sincerely,

Hillary Rodham Clinton

Partnering with Kiva

Partnering with Kiva

Kiva partners with a range of organizations, including microfinance institutions (MFIs), social businesses, schools, and nonprofits. These organizations are united by a strong commitment to serving the needs of poor, vulnerable, and/or excluded populations, either through financial services or by using credit to expand access to beneficial products and services.
While Kiva provides interest-free financing, Kiva’s Field Partners do incur operational and administrative costs. At minimum, an organization must be able to obtain consent from borrowers to share their information, post borrower profiles, report repayment data, and provide updates on a borrower’s progress.
Please see "A Guide to Kiva For Potential Field Partners" for full details on the requirements of partnering with Kiva:

Levels of Partnership

Kiva has developed three levels of partnership to accommodate organizations with a broad range of financial needs:

Level of PartnershipDue DiligenceMaximum Credit Line (USD)
Experimental PartnershipPotential partners submit a brief application and supporting documentation for review by a Kiva analyst.$20,000
Basic PartnershipPotential partners submit a more detailed application and supporting documentation for review by a Kiva analyst.$200,000
Full PartnershipPotential partners submit a more detailed application and supporting documentation, including audited financials, for review by a Kiva analyst. In addition, a Kiva analyst conducts an onsite visit to meet with staff and board members.$3.25 million
Kiva encourages organizations to start with Experimental Partnership where possible. If Kiva and the Field Partner both determine that the partnership is a good fit, Field Partners who start with an Experimental Partnership are eligible to graduate to Basic or Full Partnership as their financial needs and operational capacity grow.

Clinton Foundation: Have you taken our 2014 Priorities Survey?

Have you taken our 2014 Priorities Survey?

Mumtaz,

When I first asked the Clinton Foundation community for input this summer, the response was amazing – and incredibly helpful. Your input allows us to focus on what we know is important to our supporters, like taking on this year's new No Ceilings initiative to accelerate the full participation of women and girls in the 21st century and supporting a new CGI commitment to stop the ivory trade that has devastated elephant populations and contributed to political instability in Africa.

Now, we'd like your help to plan for what we do in 2014. So please, take a few minutes of your time before tonight's deadline to let us know where you see the Foundation heading in the next year.

As always, thank you for all of your support.

Sincerely,

Eric Braverman
